What the free plan carries, what Team adds, how a seat is counted and how an owner upgrades.
Every organization is on a plan
A new organization is on the free plan, which publishes open-source catalogues: every project is public, and projects and seats are unlimited. Team adds private projects to the same organization, billed monthly for the people who use it.
A seat follows a role
A seat comes from the role a person already holds, so there is one thing to decide rather than two.

A project grant counts the same way: admin and member are Editors, reviewer is a Collaborator. Someone who holds several roles across the organization and its projects takes one seat, the stronger of the two kinds. Seats count the people who have joined, so an invitation starts counting when it is accepted.
Prices are in US dollars and exclude tax. Pricing shows both plans side by side.
Team starts with a trial
Team begins with a 7-day trial, offered once per organization. Inviting a member or granting project access while on Team names the seat it adds and its monthly price beside the control, so the bill is visible where it changes.
Upgrade from the billing pane
Settings holds a billing pane for each organization. An owner upgrades there and returns there to change the payment method, read the renewal date or end Team. Owners and admins read the plan, the seats in use and the monthly total; members and reviewers see the plan name on the organization pane and can ask an owner to upgrade.
When Team ends
Private projects stay private, and the publications already in them stay readable to the people who could read them. Publishing a new catalogue to a private project takes Team again, and public projects carry on unchanged.
